Women-Owned Business Certification Information Session

Thursday, October 17, 2013

A presentation on “Why and How You Should Certify your Business as Women Owned” is being offered on Thursday, October 24, from 8:30-11:00 a.m. at Cranwell Resort in Lenox. The event is free, with costs generously underwritten by MountainOne. Additional event sponsors include The Berkshire Chamber and Charter Oak Consulting Group.

The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) offers a special Women-Owned Certification to qualified businesses. To apply for the WBENC Certification, a business must be at least 51% owned, operated, managed, and controlled by a woman or women. The Certification can help open doors to corporate and government contracts in areas in which women-owned businesses have historically been underrepresented.

Representatives from The Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE) will provide information on the benefits of WBENC Certification, eligibility requirements, and what the process entails. Success stories will be shared, as well as strategies for leveraging certification once obtained.

The WBENC Certification is the nation’s leading independent certification of women-owned businesses. Over 11,000 businesses are certified nationwide, and over 1,000 corporate supplier diversity and purchasing professionals recognize the WBENC certification.

CWE is the New England Regional Partner Organization for WBENC, managing the certification process for all New England women-owned businesses. They will be providing information on why certification is good for women owned businesses and how it can help generate growth through contracts with corporations, universities, and government entities.
